Important installation requirements
- Manual vs. electric models & power supply. We fully assemble and connect all electrical components — integrated lights, motors and heaters wired into the pergola’s control box. You must provide a safe, suitable power supply (outdoor socket, extension lead, or professionally laid armoured cable) at the pergola footprint before we arrive; our installers don’t lay cables across your garden or connect to your home’s consumer unit.
- Your surface must be level. For the roof louvres to open and close correctly and the internal drainage to work, the installation surface must be completely flat and level. A steep gradient or notable unevenness may mean the build is aborted and a failed-delivery charge applied.
- Standard bolt-down (+£80). Applies when installing onto timber or composite decking, solid concrete, or traditional paving slabs (e.g. sandstone). Covers specialist hardware and the anchoring time needed for a safe, secure base.
- Decking stabilisation (+£100). If your existing decking needs additional reinforcement to safely support the weight and anchor points of the pergola, this surcharge ensures a safe, rigid foundation.
- The porcelain surcharge (+£120). Drilling into porcelain is highly specialist work requiring water-cooling, significantly more labour time and expensive diamond-tipped bits. The surcharge covers the extra time and consumable tooling needed to do the job properly.
- Porcelain & ceramic tile waiver. Despite specialist equipment, drilling into porcelain or ceramic carries an inherent risk of chipping, cracking or shattering — particularly where tiles are laid ‘dot and dab’ with hollow gaps beneath. By asking us to bolt down to a porcelain or ceramic surface you accept this risk: The Fifth Room Ltd and our installers cannot be held liable for any tiles damaged during installation, nor cover the cost of replacement tiles or patio re-laying.
- Unsafe substrates & deposit policy. If our installers assess your patio or decking as structurally unsound (e.g. rotten joists, loose slabs, insufficient concrete depth), we reserve the right to refuse the installation — we will not assemble a pergola without securely anchoring it. Non-refundable deposit: £250. If a build is aborted due to substrate issues, the £250 deposit is forfeited; alternatively, if feasible, the team may offer to rectify the substrate on the day at an additional direct cost.
What's included in the base price?
Full galvanised steel louvred frame, crank-operated roof, integrated drainage, all fixings, 1-year structural warranty.
How do I measure my space?
What you need: a tape measure and someone to help hold it. Measure in metres.
Width — measure the full width of the area you want covered, left to right (the first number, e.g. the 4.0m in 4.0m × 3.0m).
Depth — measure from the back edge (wall or fence) out to where you want the front to end (the second number).
Allow at least 5–10cm clearance on each side. Posts stand approximately 2.5m tall — check for overhanging gutters, soffits or cables. Freestanding pergolas need a solid, level surface (concrete, paving or decking). Still unsure? Call us on 0161 549 4510.
How many panels do I need?
Each 1m Fixed Louvre Panel covers one metre of your pergola's side. Place them edge to edge for a full flush finish, or use one or two for partial coverage.
- 3m side → 3 panels
- 4m side → 4 panels
- 5m side → 3 + 2 (split by the centre leg)
- 6m side → two 3m sections (6 total)
For a 2.4m end, we recommend a 2.4m Privacy Screen instead. Sides under 2.4m aren't currently available — give us a call and we'll talk through the alternatives.
What's the difference between side types?
Fixed Louvre Panel (1m) — permanent horizontal louvres in a powder-coated aluminium & steel frame. Lets in light and airflow while giving privacy and shelter. Modular — add as many as you need. The structured, architectural choice.
Privacy Screen (2.4m / 3m / 4m) — a breathable texteline mesh in a powder-coated frame. Filters sunlight and softens breezes. Comes as a single full-width panel. The softer, more relaxed choice.
Everything is finished in matching Anthracite Grey — a guaranteed colour match across pergola, panels and screens.
Description
Turn the unused corner of your garden into the room you actually live in.
The Nova Luna is a fully weatherproof, louvred-roof pergola engineered for British weather and built to be the everyday outdoor space your home has been missing. With a simple twist of the crank handle, the roof louvres tilt open to let the sun pour in — or close flat to seal out a sudden shower, funnelling rainwater silently down through the built-in U-channel drainage system and out through the legs.
Every part of the Luna is built from robust galvanised steel, finished in a premium Anthracite Grey powder coating for long-term UV and fade resistance. No rust. No warping. No fuss. Just a clean, architectural silhouette that looks as good against a modern extension as it does next to a traditional brick home.
Available in five sizes — from a cosy 3m x 2.4m up to an entertainer's 3m x 6m — the Luna is the entry point into the Nova pergola family without sacrificing the engineering, materials, or finish that the range is known for.
Make it yours with optional Nova Luna accessories (sold separately):
- 1.0m Fixed Louvre Side Wall Panels — add shelter from a low sun, block a neighbour's view, or create the appearance of a doorway
- Privacy Screens in 2.4m, 3m and 4m widths — soften gentle breezes and add shade where you need it most
Whether it's morning coffee in the rain, an unbothered Sunday lunch, or a hot tub that finally gets used twelve months a year — the Luna gives you back the part of your home you've been ignoring.
